Dear Oakley Parents and Guardians

The first half term is drawing to a close and the past couple of weeks have been characteristically busy for your daughters. There has been much to celebrate and I know they are all ready for a well-deserved break.

We were very proud of Ellie Chow who danced so beautifully at the Sustainability Sounds Concert:

Ellie is also a dance leader and her Saturday morning class is very well attended.

Thank you to all the girls who contributed to our Harvest Festival collection.

The girls enjoyed a House Breakfast:

I would like to thank the girls involved in the Fourth Form Drama competition this year. Lots of rehearsal time and some outstanding performances from the ensemble cast. Esinam was a purposeful director who kept the girls in check!

Well done to Isla, Ambi, Anoushka, Heily, Amelia, Prebishma, Lina and Nidima for a brilliant performance. They were all rewarded with an end of term McDonalds treat:

It was great to see our Lower Fourth girls brave the challenge of the Malvern Walk earlier in the month. A 12 mile trek with some challenging weather conditions was a real test for some and I was very proud to still see some determined smiles at the top of the hills:

The last 3 weeks has also been dominated by our House Song competition. Last week we were thrilled when Trissie, Alvina and Christina visited to see how rehearsals were going. As OBs who were here and instrumental (!) in 2 victories, their encouragement and doughnuts were well received by the girls.

Led by Florence, the whole House took part in preparing ‘Empire State of Mind’. I hope many of you have seen the clips. A special thank you also goes to Sophie Tang who accompanied on the piano. Our soloists Vanessa, Niki and Ritsu opening the performance beautifully. Well done to all the girls!

Seven and a half weeks ago 36 new boarders joined Oakley House. It has been an intense and packed half term. New friendships have blossomed and your daughters have been working hard. I look forward to welcoming them back after their break from Bromsgrove and I wish you all a lovely half term.

Best wishes

Victoria
